16th Annual Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Training Conference

The 2020 accreditation training conference is scheduled for March 23 - 25, 2020.  To register for classes, please click here.  Training on the schedule this year includes the following:

Monday, March 23, 2020 – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Accreditation Manager Class/Traditional Paper Files
This class is recommended for every agency that wishes to start working towards accreditation or for newly assigned Accreditation Managers.  Chiefs are encouraged to attend this class with their representatives so they have a full understanding of the work the accreditation manager will be doing. This will be of great help to the chief and the accreditation manager as they work through the process together.

Monday, March 23, 2020 – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Accreditation Manager Class/PowerDMS
This class is recommended for every agency that will be using PowerDMS, including those agencies switching from paper files to PowerDMS, while working towards accreditation.  Chiefs are encouraged to attend this class with their representatives, so they have a full understanding of the work the accreditation manager will be doing. This will be of great help to the chief and the accreditation manager as they work through the process together.

Monday, March 23, 2020 – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Assessor Training Class
This class will prepare individuals to perform on-site assessments or prepare them to understand what to expect during an on-site. This class has some prerequisites which are listed on the assessor application. If you wish to attend this class, an assessor application must be completed and submitted with your resume as soon as possible but not later than March 6, 2020 to be approved by the Commission.  Click here for an application. 

Tuesday, March 24, 2020 – 8:00 am – 12:00 pm     **This class has been approved by MPOETC for 4 CLEE credits.
Paul Butler Presentations, LLC
Paul Butler is an internationally renowned speaker, presenter, instructor and entertainer.  He excels in the areas of motivation, leadership, customer service and attitude empowerment.  During his 27 years of law enforcement, he has been a public servant, training officer, sergeant, crisis negotiator, chief of police and chief deputy.  These opportunities have given him a unique perspective on a vast array of situations and circumstances that many people find themselves in every day.  These experiences have helped him to develop the answers to questions and cures to problems most people are facing at work and in life on a continual basis.

Tuesday, March 24, 2020 – 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm    **This class has been approved by MPOETC for 3 CLEE credits.
Christopher P. Boyle, Attorney at Law
Attorney Boyle provides legal counsel to municipalities, police departments and private employers.  He handles claims involving civil rights, municipal liability, and employment law and their litigation.  As a former state-certified instructor, Chris is also a nationally recognized law enforcement expert, frequently called upon to deliver seminars and other training to municipalities, police departments and insurers on a variety of topics including risk management, police pursuits, search and seizure, racial profiling, the Americans with Disabilities Act, hiring practices, Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Act and police shootings.

Pennsylvania Police Accreditation Coalition (PPAC) Meeting
The PPAC will hold a brief monthly meeting of the membership for April at the conference to discuss any business pending before the organization or for good of the order discussions.

Wednesday, March 25, 2020 – 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Assessor/General Updates and PowerDMS Review
This session is mandatory for assessors who are due for their update training and wish to remain on the active assessor list.  Standards updates will be reviewed.  A PowerDMS open discussion will be held regarding Pennsylvania’s best usage practices and PowerDMS usage, in general.  This will be and open discussion type forum which will provide PowerDMS users with valuable information.  As a workshop class, we request that any questions about PowerDMS that you would like answered be submitted prior to class to Dick Hammon at [email protected].

A reminder to all currently certified PLEAC assessors, you are required to have update training at least once every two years if you wish to continue to be on the active assessor list for PLEAC.  If you do not receive the required update training, you will be removed from our list of active assessors.  If you are in question as to your training needs, please contact us and we will provide you with that information.

Also, the Pennsylvania Police Accreditation Coalition (PPAC) will be sponsoring a hospitality room on Monday and Tuesday evenings (7:00 pm – 10:00 pm).  The room will offer light snacks, beverages and most important an opportunity for you to network with others who are working in the accreditation program.  We wish to thank PowerDMS for their sponsorship.  

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel, 4650 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111. We have reserved a block of rooms for those of you who wish to stay over.  You can contact them directly at 717-564-5511.  They will provide you with a room rate of $102.00 per night. The block will be held until March 1, 2020. You must make your reservations by this date to take advantage of this special rate.

There is a registration fee of $100.00 per attendee that will be used to help defray costs associated with the conference.
